Stree Shakti Women empowerment Stree Shakti –women power – is a women empowerment program in rural India which aims to empower women artisans to create handmade quilts and handicrafts inspired by India’s vibrant culture, KaffeFassett’s quilt designs , Vera Bradley’s fashion handbags, artisan skill and handcrafted beauty.

“Before Stree Shakti started in our community, there were no options for women to help themselves here. From one small effort to help women, Mrs. Chinni has helped all women.”

Stree Shakti started in 2003 when Chinni Swamy helped one woman develop her quilting skills in order to improve her family’s quality of life.
 
From one woman working in the Swamy’s home, the program has now grown to more than 70 women artisans producing handmade quilts in a new production facility.
