| Stree Shakti is a women empowerment program that helps women build their skills and improve their quality of life. |

| Program Highlights: |

Since 2003, Stree Shakti has helped provide skill training and employment to more than 70 women in need.

Through training, development and support, the program has made drastic improvements in the lives of the women and the well being of their families.

Women work in six interdependent self-help groups to produce beautifully hand-stitched quilts and textile products that help them earn an income to care for their families.

Purkal Youth Development Society supports the programs working capital and management, as provides free transportation to the Stree Shakti training and production facility.

Shishu Shakti Early Childhood Development Center, adjacent to the Stree Shakti production center, opened in March 2010 for the Stree Shakti women’s young children to attend and receive social development and primary education, while the women are quilting.

Stree Shakti provides access to education and preventative healthcare for the women.
