Women, in this culture, are charged with the care of the home and their children, leaving no time or opportunity for them to develop skills and work. In addition, there are no government-sponsored early childhood development programs for the communities young children. As a result, the Shishu Shakti Early Childhood Learning Center, which is supervised by trained early childhood education teachers, was inaugurated in March 2010. Now, Stree Shakti artisans can fully participate in the production center each day, while their pre-school aged children have a supportive learning and social development environment. The children also receive the nutritional and healthcare benefits of the PYDS program. |
